Kevin Hogan returns to the field where his career at Stanford got launched

On Nov. 3, 2012, Kevin Hogan and former Stanford QB Josh Nunes took the field to take on Colorado in Boulder. The plan at the time was to run a two-QB system in the first half and see which player performed better. The better man would run the show in the second-half.

Nunes started the game and ran two drives, both of which produced nothing. Then, with one second left in the first quarter, Hogan finally got his shot. He never looked back.

After the first drive Hogan got on the phone with then-offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton and got the word that he was Stanford's guy.

"I was unsure what was happening,'' Hogan recalled according to the Contra Costa Times, "and he says, "Alright, there's no looking back.'

After directing four straight touchdown drives, Hogan had firmly established himself as the starter. Two games later, he directed one of the biggest upsets in school history, taking down top-ranked Oregon in Eugene.

Now, nearly three years later, Hogan is once against in Boulder to take on Colorado. The Cardinal are heavily favored against the Buffaloes and have a shot to make it to the College Football Playoff.
