James Madison beats Stony Brook 38-20, off to 1st 5-0 start

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) Khalid Abdullah rushed for 114 yards and a pair of touchdowns as James Madison weathered a late surge to defeat Stony Brook 38-20 on Saturday, notching the program's first-ever 5-0 start.

The Dukes (5-0, 2-0 Colonial Athletic) piled up 519 yards of total offense, and Vad Lee and Cardon Johnson also rushed for scores.

Lee passed for 225 yards and, after a pump fake, hit Ishmael Hyman from 30 yards for another TD.

Ryan Maglio added a 21-yard field goal.

Down 38-7 after three quarters, Stony Brook's Joe Carbone rushed for fourth-quarter scores of 1 and 3 yards. The Seawolves (2-2, 1-2) failed to convert an onside kick with 3:37 remaining and James Madison ran out the clock.

Carbone completed 11 of 24 passes for 132 yards. Conor Bednarski, the other half of the Seawolves' QB tandem, passed for 117 yards and a score.
