Jacksonville rolls to 42-12 win over Davidson
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) Backup Rylan Wells had a career-best day in throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns as Jacksonville beat Davidson 42-12.
Wells entered the game late in the first quarter when starter Kade Bell was injured after being sacked. Bell had given the Dolphins (7-2, 4-2 Pioneer) a 14-0 lead with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Matthew Passeggiata and a 43-yarder to Andy Jones.
Wells threw touchdown passes of 18 and 44 yards to Damien Strange and a 41-yarder to Brian Burnett for a 35-6 halftime lead. He threw a 43-yarder to Jones in the second half.
Wells completed 18 of 24 passes without an interception with the two quarterbacks combining for 435 yards of the Dolphins' 582 total on offense. Jones had 122 yards receiving and two touchdowns and Strange had 105 yards and two scores.
The Dolphins snapped a two-game losing streak. The Wildcats (1-8, 0-6), who have lost four straight, have dropped 22 straight conference games.
