Josh McGregor ran for a touchdown and threw for another as Jacksonville scored 30 first-half points and held off a Drake rally to beat the Bulldogs 39-34 on Saturday.

The Dolphins (5-1, 3-0 Pioneer League) got touchdowns from five players and had three extra point attempts fail as two were blocked. Drake (3-3, 2-1) scored four times in the second half when the Bulldogs outscored Jacksonville 27-9.

Jacksonville scored early when McGregor scrambled 39 yards for a touchdown.

The Dolphins took a 23-7 lead early in the second quarter when J.J. Laster scored on a 6-yard rush and safety Jordan Dewhirst returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. McGregor later hit Rodney Sumter for 33 yards and a 30-7 halftime lead.

Drake rebounded in the second half as quarterback Mike Piatkowski threw touchdown passes to Drew Blackmon and Joey Orlando and ran for a third score.
