Irish QB Crist injured vs. Michigan

BY foxsports • September 11, 2010

Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist led the Irish on a touchdown drive to open the game and then went to the sidelines and didn't play the rest of the first half.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly told a TV interviewer at the half that Crist got banged up during the first series and wasn't clear enough to return to the game.

Crist was replaced by freshman Tommy Rees, who threw a quick interception that led to a game-tying TD for the Wolverines. After Rees played two series, Nate Montana took over and played the rest of the half. He also threw an interception and then overthrew the end zone on the final play of the half after the Irish had reached the Michigan 3.

Crist completed 5 of 7 passes on the first 71-yard drive, had three carries for 30 yards and then sneaked in for the Irish TD.

Michigan led 21-7 at the half.
