Notre Dame defensive end Ethan Johnson was held out of Saturday's game against Air Force with a sprained right ankle.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound senior from Portland, Ore., was injured early in last week's win at Purdue and wore a protective boot on the ankle as he walked on the field out of uniform Saturday.

He was replaced in the starting lineup Saturday by freshman Aaron Lynch.

Johnson has nine tackles in five games this season. In his career with the Irish, he has 12 1/2 sacks and four fumble recoveries.
