Indiana State tops Youngstown State 27-24 in OT

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Eric Heidorn kicked a 28-yard field goal in overtime to lift Indiana State to a 27-24 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday in a battle of ranked FCS teams.

Mark Sewall's interception on the first play of overtime set up the Sycamores (7-4, 4-3 Missouri Valley) for the win.

Trailing 24-10, Youngstown State (7-4, 4-3) tied the game on Hunter Wells' 2-yard touchdown pass to Nate Adams with 4:51 left in regulation and Martin Ruiz's 4-yard touchdown run with 1:20 remaining.

Indiana State scored 17 unanswered points for a 24-10 lead with Buck Logan running 20 yards for a touchdown, Dimitri Taylor 1 yard for another and Heidorn kicking a field goal.

The Sycamores' Mike Perish was 29-of-42 passing for 353 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Gary Owens had 102 yards receiving.

Ruiz rushed for 142 yards and two scores on 27 carries. The Penguins had four turnovers.
