Huskers getting healthy on defense for stretch run

Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe the feeling around Husker Nation about the defense this season.

In particular the pass defense which still ranks dead last in the NCAA in yards allowed per game. The Huskers have allowed every quarterback but one to have career days against them and need to stop that trend quickly if they hope to march towards bowl eligibilty.

Reinforcements could be on the way, with surprising pass rushing defensive end Freedom Akinmoladun practicing this week, along with starting linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey and cornerback Daniel Davie. The game on Saturday against Northwestern figures to be a hard hitting affair so all hands need to be on deck.

If the Huskers can get all three back, it could go a long way to helping fix a defense that needs an extra boost.
