Howard defeats Texas Southern 40-6

Anthony Philyaw rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns and Greg McGhee passed for two more scores as Howard defeated Texas Southern 40-6 on Saturday.

The Howard defense forced six turnovers against the Tigers (2-9), including Cameron Alston's 32-yard fumble return for a score.

On Howard's second possession, Philyaw capped a 75-yard drive with a 30-yard scoring run. The Tigers scored next on two field goals, but that was as close as they would get in their season finale.

McGhee got both of his touchdown passes - 7 yards to Brandon Flanagan and 19 yards to Stewart Hartman - in the second quarter when the Bison (5-6) scored 23 points to take a 30-6 lead at the half. Philyaw also got his second TD of the game - a 2-yarder - in the second quarter.

The Bison rolled up 458 yards of total offense.

McGhee passed for 190 yards.
