How receiver David Glidden became the Cowboys' leader
David Glidden is an integral part of a talented Oklahoma State passing offense, but his leadership in the locker room is the most important attribute he brings to the Cowboys.
He's also the toughest player Oklahoma State has, according to many players.
“We all said David,” cornerback Kevin Peterson confirmed with a laugh. “It was funny, but it's true. He's a guy you don't want to see. He's going to give you his best effort all the time. He's fast, quick, athletic. He's smart, too.”
James Washington has grown tremendously this season, but where, exactly, would Oklahoma State be without Glidden?
“I go back to last year when we hit that five-game skid,” said Cowboys offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich. “He was a constant leader during those times. His positive talk to the team, his impact and playmaking and just his demeanor and consistency helped us turn it around to where we beat OU and then we beat Washington in the bowl game. And that carried into this year.
“So, it was a cumulative when you look at it from that aspect. It wasn't just about those two games last year; it was about the momentum we were able to take into this year. So, to me, what he has done for our program from a leadership standpoint is insurmountable.”
