2016 running back Rico Dowdle made his college commitment on Friday afternoon -- opting to sign with Will Muschamp and the South Carolina Gamecocks.

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Dowdle selected USC over Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, and Tennessee.

As a senior at A.C. Reynolds High School, Dowdle rushed for 2,545 yards and 51 touchdowns. He also threw for 1,434 yards and 11 touchdowns. In total he accounted for 62 touchdowns and nearly 4,000 yards of total offense.

"Just really hearing that they can use me down there, and I'm a great fit for the offense and I'm a good running back they can use down there in Columbia," Dowdle told The State
