Groth's FG lifts Central Connecticut State over Sacred Heart

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Ed Groth kicked a 35-yard field goal with 15 seconds left to lift Central Connecticut State over Sacred Heart 37-35 on Saturday.

Sacred Heart (6-3, 1-3 Northeast) led 35-34 with 1:28 left after RJ Noel hit Moses Webb on a 4-yard TD pass. Noel threw for three TDS and 263 yards.

Jacob Dolegala hit Jose Garcia for a 23-yard gain on the ensuing drive and Cameron Nash ran four yards to the 18 before the drive sputtered and Groth kicked the winner. Groth added a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 39-yarder earlier in the fourth.

Dolegala threw for 328 yards, ran 4 yards for a score and hit Joey Fields on a 37-yard scoring strike to make it 31-21 Blue Devils (2-7, 1-3). Nash scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.

CCSU's Tymir Hinton picked off a pass and returned it 11 yards for a TD to open the scoring.
