Anthony Carrothers threw for a touchdown and Zoltan Riazzo kicked three field goals to help Grambling State defeat Alabama State 22-7 on Saturday.

Frank Warren rushed for 107 yards on 24 carries as the Tigers (4-1, 4-0 Southwest Athletic Conference) finished with 216 yards on the ground. Grambling, who came in averaging 236.3 yards rushing per game, held the Hornets (3-3, 3-3) to just 71 yards on the ground.

Grambling State jumped out to a 12-0 lead on Riazzo's 39-yard field goal and maintained their dominance in the second half, despite a touchdown run by the Hornets.

Quenda McKibbon capped an 8-play, 62-yard drive on a 1-yard scoring run to pull Alabama State within 12-7 with 7:17 left in the third quarter.

Riazzo then kicked a 36-yard field goal and Larry Donnell caught a 4-yard pass from Carrothers 48 seconds into the fourth quarter for the final margin.
