Minnesota coach Jerry Kill was released from the hospital on Thursday, five days after he was stricken with a seizure on the sideline at the end of a game.
Team physician Dr. Pat Smith said in a statement distributed by the university that Kill was discharged during the lunch hour and went home. The school then announced later Thursday that Kill came back to campus after changing clothes and joined the Gophers for their entire two-hour afternoon practice.
After addressing the team, the university said, Kill returned home to rest but told the players he would be back at work Friday morning.
Minnesota hosts Miami of Ohio at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Gophers coaches and players won't be available for comment until after the game.
But Smith said Kill was ''in good spirits'' after his release from the hospital, and that he would be able to return to work at his discretion without restrictions. Smith said the decision on whether to coach Saturday's game was entirely up to Kill. That was before the school confirmed Kill's attendance at practice later in the day.
