Georgia Tech adds former UNC assistant to staff
On Thursday Georgia Tech added former North Carolina assistant, Ron West, to its staff as a co-offensive line coach.
West was a co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach for head coach Larry Fedora at UNC and helped the Tar Heels go 11-3 (8-0) this year en route to an ACC Coastal Division crown.
A former Clemson player who graduated in 1979, West previously spent 10 years on the Tigers staff (1999-2009) and has coached on both sides of the ball throughout his career.
Before joining the Tar Heel's West served as a co-defensive coordinator for a season at Arizona State, was a linebackers coach at Illinois from 2010-11 and took a role as Tulsa’s co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach in 2009.
At Clemson, West began as an offensive line coach, before shifting to defensive line coach and outside linebackers coach. West was also a co-offensive coordinator at Baylor from 1993-96.
