(STATS) - Georgetown linebacker Ty Williams is recovering after undergoing surgery Saturday night for a serious neck injury suffered in the first quarter of the Hoyas' season-opening 48-20 loss to St. Francis of Pennsylvania.
Harris, a junior who started all 11 games last season for Georgetown, had the procedure done at Altoona UMPC Hospital in Pennsylvania and no further update was given.
"Ty is one of our leaders on and off the field and is a very important part of the Hoya Football Family," head coach Rob Sgarlata said in a statement released by the school. "He is a tremendous young man. We are hopeful that he will progress and we are keeping him and his family in our thoughts and constant prayers."
