Gators QB Grier undergoes transformation since Florida arrival
One thing you certainly can say about Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Will Grier, he's taking his approach in the weight room serious, as the quarterback has reportedly gained 43 pounds since his arrival in Gainesville last year.
Grier checked in to the Gators at 172-pounds before redshirting in 2014. If this tweet is accurate, he's undergone quite the transformation:
While gains in the weight room won't necessarily translate to on the field success, it's obviously the quarterback has prepared his body for the rigors of the SEC. With the starting quarterback position still up for grabs in the opener against New Mexico State, Grier will be given every opportunity to win the job in fall camp.
The Gators are expected to break in four new starters on the offensive line this season and with their most experienced offensive linemen failing to make it through spring practice without sustaining injuries, whoever wins the job could be facing a season of blitzes defenses. Looks like Grier has prepared himself for the hits that are sure to come behind an inexperienced line this season in Gainesville.
