FOX Sports Experts Split on FSU Football's ACC Title Chances
Two of the most known college football experts have FSU football high in the standings, but differ on if they have the ‘Noles winning the conference.
Even before the 2016 college football season has started, many people already have decided that it’s going to either be the Florida State Seminoles or the Clemson Tigers who end up winning the ACC when it’s all said and done.
Expert after expert has said it’s either FSU football or that team from the Palmetto State – and it’s not much different for two of the best in the sport. FOX Sports college football insiders Stewart Mandel and Bruce Feldman both have high hopes for the ‘Noles, but differ on how high they will finish.
Feldman isn’t so much against the ‘Noles, but thinks it’s more about who is in the Atlantic Division:
Everyone’s back on offense, and there’s good buzz about young QB Deondre Francois, a guy who can extend plays with his feet and also has a quick release. He’ll lean heavily on stud RB Dalvin Cook. The D sparked by do-everything sophomore Derwin James also should be good. I think this is one of the five best teams in college football. Unfortunately, they’re in the same division as Deshaun Watson and Clemson.
Feldman predicted the Tigers would be the only team to beat the Seminoles in the regular season. As for Mandel, he sees things the exact opposite:
Redshirt freshman QB Deondre Francois doesn’t need to be Jameis Winston with a cast of stars led by stud RB Dalvin Cook.
ACC championship: Florida State over Pittsburgh
Pat Narduzzi gets Pitt into a conference title game in only his second season, but the Panthers won’t be able to match the talent of the Seminoles. FSU runs the regular-season table and enters the College Football Playoff with a chance to win its second national title in four years.
I don’t know about you, but I like Mandel’s prediction a lot more.
