FOX reporter takes rough sideline hit
She's OK, folks!
Scout/FOX Sports NEXT field reporter Amy Campbell was on the receiving end of a nasty sideline collision Tuesday, getting bowled over while in the midst of an interview — and it was all caught on film, as you see above.
Let's break down that video, shall we?
Here everything is fine and dandy:
"(We thought), 'Oh, we're so far away; they're not coming over here,'" Campbell told FOXSports.com.
Here you can see trouble brewing on the horizon:
Campbell's take: "I saw (Scout/NEXT recruiting analyst) Chad (Simmons) turn, so I turned and went to take a step and they switched directions so quickly ... It all happened so fast."
Here is that brutal moment when an elite athlete plows into you without warning:
Campbell's take: "The next thing I saw was grass in my face."
And finally, gloriously, the shorts-clad referee making sure nothing distracts from his job while others look on with mild curiosity:
Campbell's take: "That to me is just the icing on the cake right there."
The good news from all this: No injury to speak of.
"My knee got a little bit bruised," Campbell said. "It's sore today, but nothing serious. It could've been a lot worse. At least I can take a hit, right?"
Campbell and the Scout/NEXT team are covering The Opening, an elite recruiting event at the Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., for some of the nation's top high school football players.
The one who plowed her over is Ermon Lane, a four-star wide receiver prospect out of Florida, where Campbell is based. Lane seems to have a knack for this sort of thing.
"He has almost collided with me several times since I've been out here," Campbell said, describing another incident where Lane came out of the back of the end zone, leapfrogged a hedge and ran right past her.
As if all that wasn't enough, Campbell says she was also stung by a bee Wednesday.
No hard feelings between Campbell and Lane. He apologized for the accident and they made amends:
