Florida State's next spring game could be held in Orlando
It appears that ongoing renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium will force the Florida State football team to hold its 2016 spring game elsewhere, and the new destination appears to be Orlando.
The Tallahassee Democrat reported that FSU athletic director Stan Wilcox said that having the game in Orlando provides fans with "easy access to see our team play."
The Tallahassee Democrat stated that Jacksonville was also in the running.
By playing the spring game outside of Tallahassee, FSU will gain exposure in a new area, but Wilcox said the plan is to bring the game back to Doak Campbell Stadium.
"It's good to get to a different part of the state where a number of our fans can get easy access to see our team play," Wilcox told the Tallahassee Democrat. "But we haven't gone into this with the thought that we're going to do this on an annual basis.
"We knew that the stadium would be under construction and we didn't want to have our fans only in a certain section of the stadium because of the construction. We wanted to be able to have the game without that interference."
