Florida State Arrives in Miami Safely, Sellout Expected

After postponing their travel plans a day due to Hurricane Matthew, Florida State arrived in South Florida safely Friday morning according to the Miami Herald. The Miami Hurricanes and FSU will face off at 8pm Saturday night in front of what is expected to be a sellout at Hard Rock Stadium.

There should not be any weather related problem to playing the game. The Miami Gardens forecast throughout the game is expected to be in the 80’s and partly cloudy. Ninety percent of the fans at Hard Rock Stadium are protected from the elements. The $500 million renovations to the Rock include canopies.

Per HurricaneSports.Com, the decision to play the game was not made lightly. Miami, FSU, Hard Rock Stadium, the ACC and Government organizations were all in on the discussions about whether or not to play.

The state highway patrol said that FSU and Miami will not be receiving police escorts to the game this weekend. Governor Rick Scott’s Communication Director Jackie Schutz said in the Herald: “All state law enforcement will be doing hurricane response and recovery.”

    Governor Scott encouraged FSU students and fans not to travel due to the Hurricane. They specifically do not want people to travel through areas still under evacuation. Schutz said: “People need to be careful…There’s still a major Category three storm going up the coast.’’

    The game is going to commence with a moment of silence for those that have been impacted by the Hurricane. Florida State and Miami will wear helmet stickers bearing the state of Florida with the Red Cross logo,
