Florida Gators Football Recruiting: Donovan Peoples-Jones Update

The Florida Gators are one of many college football teams recruiting Donovan Peoples-Jones. Florida may have received a positive sign on December 13.

Three or four years from now, you could be hearing the name Donovan Peoples-Jones on Sundays. A gifted and dynamic wide receiver from Detroit, Michigan, Peoples-Jones is on the radar of every college football coach in the country.

Though it may have been innocent and inconclusive, the Florida Gators football team may have received a update in the recruitment process.

Peoples-Jones is listed as a five-star recruit on Rivals, 247Sports, and Scout, and is a four-star recruit on ESPN. He possesses the physical tools, range, and intelligence to be a star wide receiver for years to come.

On Tuesday, December 13, Peoples-Jones was photographed wearing Florida’s blue and orange with a Gators backpack alongside him.

This could be nothing, but it could also be the sign that something special is on the horizon.

It’s entirely possible that Peoples-Jones will don the colors of every team that’s recruiting him before making an official announcement. Mind you, the Detroit native has been linked to the University of Michigan on a consistent basis.

It’s also possible that Peoples-Jones intends to shock the masses and commit to playing for Jim McElwain and the Gators.

Regardless of which outcome is more likely, it’s encouraging to know that he’s at least considering Florida as an option.

By landing Peoples-Jones, the Gators would add the type of wide receiver who can single-handedly transform an offense. Placing him alongside Antonio Callaway would create the potential for explosive execution in an area Florida has struggled in recent seasons.

Florida’s offense projects to be better in 2016-17 regardless of Peoples-Jones’ decision, but his individual upside is undeniable.

Whether it’s reading between the lines or simply overreacting, seeing Donovan Peoples-Jones in Florida gear is nothing short of intriguing.
