Eubank leads Samford to 45-16 win over Central Arkansas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Michael Eubank threw for a career-high 372 yards and four touchdowns as Samford opened the season with a 45-16 win over Central Arkansas on Thursday night.

Eubank, an Arizona State transfer, had completed 17 of 30 attempts for 344 yards after three quarters.

Kelvin McKnight pulled in six passes for 157 yards and one touchdown. Denzel Williams rushed for 91 yards and another score.

Central Arkansas took an early lead when Dominique Thomas scored on a 29-yard run midway in the first quarter. Eubank answered quickly when he hit Karel Hamilton on a 55-yard scoring strike to tie with 5:03 left in the first. Eubank passed to Vaquan Small for a 35-yard score early in the second. Williams broke free for a 49-yard ramble to score with 9:09 left in the half. The Bulldogs led 28-13 at the break.

Taylor Reed threw for 312 yards for Central Arkansas.
