BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) Connor Christiansen hit Corey Joyner for a 25-yard touchdown and Julius Moore had the clinching interception in the third overtime to help Elon beat Gardner-Webb 21-13 on Saturday night.

The teams made field goals on each of their possessions in the first two overtimes before Christiansen found Joyner on the first play of the third OT. Christiansen then hit Doug Warrick for the 2-point conversion that give Elon (1-1) a 21-13 lead.

Gardner-Webb (0-2) quarterback Tyrell Maxwell was shaken up on the ensuing second down and was replaced by Chase Arrington.

A sack by Nick Groll made it fourth-and-11 before Arrington's pass was intercepted by Julius Moore at the 2.
