The Mississippi-Mississippi State rivalry game, known as the Egg Bowl, will be played on Thanksgiving night this season for the first time since 2003.

ESPN was looking for a game to televise on Thanksgiving night and the two Southeastern Conference schools were happy to move from Saturday of that same weekend.

The 110th Egg Bowl will be played Nov. 28 at Davis Wade Stadium. The game has been played on Thanksgiving 20 times, including from 1998-2003.

Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement Wednesday that it is a ''tremendous opportunity for our state's largest football game to be played on the largest stage of a crowded football weekend.''
