Vernon Adams threw two touchdown passes in the last 2:19 as Eastern Washington came back for a 32-26 victory against Montana on Saturday night.
Adams found Ashton Clark for a go-ahead, 20-yard touchdown with 53 seconds remaining for the Eagles (3-1, 2-0 Big Sky). He hit Brandon Kaufman from 30 yards out to get Eastern Washington within 26-24, and the Eagles recovered an onside kick at midfield.
Adams, who has started the last two games at quarterback after SMU transfer Kyle Padron started the first two, was 25 of 41 for 353 yards with three TDs and an interception. He led Eastern Washington's rushers, with 54 yards on 10 attempts.
Jordan Canada ran for 167 yards on 19 carries and Peter Nguyen 119 yards on 23 attempts for the Grizzlies (2-3, 0-2). Montana drove to the Eagles' 29-yard line with 11 seconds left, but the clock ran out after Nate Harris' 9-yard completion to Ellis Henderson.
The Grizzlies compiled 407 yards on the ground.
The Eagles led 17-10 at halftime, but Montana scored 16 straight points on TD runs by Trent McKinney and Canada and a 25-yard field goal by Chris Lider.
