Does Mike Gundy Have What Ducks Are Looking For?
The Oregon Ducks Head Coaching search may lead to the State of Oklahoma.
The ‘big’ hire well is starting to dry up. One name that is starting to see some traction is Mike Gundy. The Oklahoma State Head Coach turned down Baylor on Tuesday. The Bears were offering a reported $5-$6 million a year deal.
Temple Head Coach Matt Ruhle saw the opportunity and left the Owls after turning down the Oregon Ducks. Was Gundy waiting for Mullens to call?
Mike Gundy At A Glance
Gundy is an Offensive guy. He played Quarterback in High School and for Oklahoma State. He has been a Wide Receives Coach, Quarterbacks Coach and Offensive Coordinator for his Alma Mater and was named Head Coach in 2005.

He has made Bowl Appearances in the last 11 of his 12 seasons at the helm of the Sooners. His highest ranked team was in 2011 when Oklahoma went 12-1 and won the Fiesta Bowl. He has proven he can win.
Since 2008, Gundy has put together an impressive string averaging close to 10 wins per season over the last 8 years.
Would be be a good fit with the Oregon Ducks?
Having Offensive experience may mean not changing, but tweaking the Philosophy. He would need to bring in the right Coach on the Defensive side of the ball. With winning teams, he has shown that he can recruit solid players.
Gundy may be best known for an outburst he had with the media in 2007 over an article that was critical of one his players.
