Fresh off of the 38-10 win over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and with the Ole Miss Rebels on the schedule next week, the Crimson Tide are still atop the AP Top 25 and USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll.

The top five from the AP Voters remained relatively the same with the exception of some swapping in positions. The Florida State Seminole jumped to number two after taking care of business on Saturday and their opening weekend win over the Ole Miss Rebels. Clemson dropped down to number five after two lackluster performances against Auburn and Sunbelt Conference member Troy. Ohio State and Michigan round out the top five at the three and four spots, respectively.

On the Coaches Poll, there are quite a few familiar teams holding the top spots. The Seminoles are representing again in the two spot with Clemson, Ohio State, and Michigan falling in behind them.

What could be the biggest surprise thus far is the lack of SEC teams in the top spots. Tennessee is the next highest ranked team in the AP Poll, coming in at number 15 while on the other side, the Georgia Bulldogs are nearest to Alabama at number 13.

The most ludicrous part of the polls is how Clemson and Michigan each received a first-place vote. Which part of Michigan’s two cupcakes gave that voter the impression that this team was the best in the land? And for Clemson, which struggles in each game made you look at them and say, “Yep, these guys are the best.”

Oh, college football polls. How we love you. It’s all just talk until January anyway.
