Cortland broadcaster loses mind as botched field-goal attempt becomes game-winning TD

BY foxsports • November 15, 2014

Chaos was ensuing.

Cortland was frantically trying to get its field-goal unit in place as the clock burned down in its rivalry game with Ithaca on Saturday.

The Cortaca Jug was on the line.

And everything was going wrong for the Red Dragons, who trailed the Blue Bombers, 20-17.

The special teams unit ran on the field. Or, most of it as holder Luke Hinton seemed to miss his cue.

Hinton then sprinted toward the spot.

The snap was off, of course, leaving Hinton with a football in his hands and a fire drill on his hands.

Check out the Cortland call:

"I knew that was going to happen," Mannix told Syracuse.com. "I knew it the whole time."

"I honestly didn't know what to do," Hinton told Syracuse.com. "I just saw him catch it and sprinted the other way. I was out of breath. I couldn't speak. It's the best feeling I've ever had."
