AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Texas coach Charlie Strong says he wants to stay with the Longhorns and believes the school's promise that he won't be evaluated until after the final game of the season on Friday.

Strong spoke Monday amid reports that he will be fired after his third season. But Strong said administrators have told him they will review the season after the Longhorns play TCU on Friday.

Athletic director Mike Perrin issued a statement calling reports of Strong's pending dismissal ''rumors.''

Strong said he spoke with Perrin on Sunday and he believes no decision has been made. Strong said he hopes a win over TCU would help him keep his job.

Strong is 16-20 in his third year at Texas, including 5-6 this season.
