Coach brags about Penn State's defensive line depth

Published Jun. 16, 2015 1:07 p.m. ET

Penn State defensive line coach Sean Spencer does not sound like a someone who had to spend the spring fretting about who would replace his two starting ends from last season.

Could choosing which two start from a group of Carl Nassib, Garrett Sickels, Torrence Brown, Curtis Cothran and Evan Schwan.

"The ends right now, I can put any four of those guys in and they can do more," Spencer told PennLive.com. "I'm very confident in putting any of those guys in at any time."

He's also high on Parker Cothren and Tarow Barney, the two young tackles in line to back up established starters Anthony Zettel and Austin Johnson in the middle of the Nittany Lion line.

"I think those guys can start on a lot of teams in the country," Spencer said.

Penn State may still have depth issues on its roster, but defensive line is as good a place as any not to.
