Clemson WR suffers concussion

Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins suffered a mild concussion in a car accident Tuesday morning, leaving his availability uncertain for next week's Orange Bowl against West Virginia.

Hopkins, the second-leading wide receiver for the ACC champions, was involved in a crash while driving to Clemson Memorial Stadium to meet the team for the trip to Miami.

He stayed behind, but head coach Dabo Swinney is hopeful that the sophomore will be able to play in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 4.

"First of all, we are relieved that DeAndre is going to be all right," Swinney said in a statement. "He is lucky. We are told he does not have any serious injuries and we hope to have him join us soon."

Swinney said it is too early to speculate on whether Hopkins will be able to play.

Hopkins had 62 catches for 871 yards this season, second on the team in both categories, with four touchdowns.
