Clemson comes it at number two in College Football Playoff rankings

The final College Football Playoff rankings were released and the Clemson Tigers came in at number two. The complete rankings are as follows, 1. Alabama, 2. Clemson, 3. Ohio State, 4. Washington.

I am pleased with the rankings. I believe all four teams are deserving of being in the College Football Playoff. Here’s my initial thoughts on the top four.

1. Alabama (12-0)

The Tide have been dominant all season. As it stands Alabama has wins over four teams ranked within the top 25. True freshman Jalen Hurts has been masterful in the Tide’s undefeated season thus far. Hurts has ran for 841 yards and 12 touchdowns while also throwing for 2592 yards and 22 touchdowns. Nick Saban has this defense playing at an extremely high level, yet again. Bama’s defense is lightning fast to the ball and their are violent tacklers.

2. Clemson (11-1)

The Tigers suffered a tough loss to Pittsburgh earlier in the season, however, since that loss Clemson has played lights out. Deshaun Watson has been playing with a passion that we have not seen thus far. I am excited to see what Tony Elliot and Jeff Scott draw up offensively. On defense the Tigers have been tenacious upfront. J.T. Barrett will have his hands full with the Tigers front seven.

3. Ohio State (11-1)

The Buckeyes are the second most talented team in the country in my opinion. J.T. Barrett has lead this young Buckeyes team back to the promise land, following a let down 2015 season. This silver bullets defense, led by middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan, has been stingy all year. The Buckeyes have allowed just five rushing touchdowns on the year. It will be interesting to see how Wayne Gallman and Deshaun Watson fair on the ground against the Buckeyes.

4. Washington (11-1)

This is the most overlooked team in the College Football Playoff. Chris Peterson is one of the best coaches in the country, he is very detail oriented and thorough. The Huskies have been pesky on defense forcing 33 turnovers on the season. Jake Browning and Washington’s offense have done a good job of taking care of the football for the most part. While at Boise, Peterson was able to upset teams such as Oklahoma, Georgia, and Virginia Tech. I know he may not say much, but, Chris Peterson has a quiet confidence about him. I expect the Huskies to keep things interesting against Alabama.
