Stanford sophomore Christian McCaffrey broke Barry Sanders' single-season record for all-purpose yards en route to finishing second in the 2015 Heisman race and being named the Pac-12 offensive player of the year.

When asked before the Heisman Trophy presentation if he would start himself of 1988 Barry Sanders in a game, McCaffrey said that while he loves Sanders, he would have to start himself.

"I have to go with myself 'cause I love playing," said McCaffrey, via Bleacher Report.

Sanders' record of 3,250 all-purpose yards stood for 26 years before McCaffrey broke it this season. Sanders set the record in 11 games and rushed for 2,628 yards along the way.

McCaffrey has played 13 games so far this season and has record 3,496 all-purpose yards. While the sophomore sensation has played more games, he actually set the record in less touches than Sanders. Sanders has 394 touches in 11 games in 1988, while McCaffrey broke the record in just 388 touches.
