Christian McCaffrey says he will leave Stanford and enter the 2017 NFL Draft

The 2017 NFL Draft just got another big name. Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey announced Wednesday that he will forego his senior season and turn pro.

In 11 games this season, McCaffrey has rushed for 1,596 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and 13 TDs, while adding 38 receptions for 317 yards and three more scores. In addition, he had totaled 414 yards on kick and punt returns.

During his three-season career with the Cardinal, he has rushed for 3,915 yards and 21 TDs, caught 100 passes for 1,213 yards and 10 TDs, and gained 1,859 return yards with two TDs.

During the 2015 season – when he was the Heisman Trophy runner-up – McCaffrey broke Barry Sanders’ single-season record for all-purpose yards in a season with 3,496 (before adding 368 more in the Rose Bowl). That 2015 season included 2,019 rushing yards.
