Cal LB Michael Barton will transfer for final year of eligibility
Cal linebacker Michael Barton announced on Twitter on Wednesday that he will be transferring from the school after graduating in spring. Barton will have one year of college football eligibility remaining.
Due to the NCAA's graduate transfer rule, Barton will be eligible to play immediately if he chooses to go to another FBS school.
“We support Michael and are proud of the hard work and dedication he has put in at Cal both on the field and in the classroom in order to be on track to graduate from Cal next May,” head coach Sonny Dykes said in a statement. “We wish him the best of luck and look forward to watching him continue his academic and athletic career.”
Barton played in nine games for the Bears in 2015. Barton had 24 tackles, one tackle for loss and an interception this season.
