Bucknell rallies to beat Lafayette in OT, 27-24

LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) Trey Lauletta connected with Jake Hartman for a 12-yard touchdown with a minute left in regulation, Derek Maurer kicked a 33-yard field goal in overtime and Bucknell avoided an upset with a 27-24 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

The Bison (7-1, 3-0 Patriot League) went 75 yards in eight plays after taking over with 3:56 to play to open league play 3-0 for the first time since 2001. They are off to their best eight-game start since the 1997 team went 10-0.

The Leopards (3-6, 1-3) took the lead on a pair of 3-yard touchdown runs by Ross Scheuerman in the third quarter after trailing 14-7 at the half. Scheuerman also had a 2-yard touchdown to open the scoring.

Lauletta converted a third-and-10 with a 17-yard run to start the game-tying drive.

Demetrius Baldwin-Youngblood and Ben Schumacher had sacks to take Lafayette out of field-goal range in overtime.
