Buckeyes coach wants converted H-back Miller to get ball more

Through two games, Braxton Miller has touched the ball 18 times for No. 1 Ohio State. 

Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer talked as if that is not enough when he addressed reporters Wednesday night. 

"It's usually a double-digit number," Meyer replied when asked how many times he would like to see Miller get the ball on average, though the coach acknowledged that can be affected by the flow of the game. 

"You can tell when a guy's hot, that fire, so that's how we determined that," Meyer said. 

Of course, getting the ball to playmakers is a common talking point among football coaches, and sometimes it is easier said than done. Defenses can do things to take away receivers, but through the course of his career Meyer has proven to be among the most adept in the country at creatively involving talented speedsters like Miller. 

Last week against Hawaii, Miller frequently took direct snaps on running plays, and Meyer has said he could be used on punt returns at some point this season. 

The coach also confirmed Miller, a former All-Big Ten quarterback who won back-to-back conference Offensive Player of the Year awards but is coming off two shoulder surgeries, is able to throw at this point but is still being cautious to avoid another injury. 

The next chance to experiment comes Saturday when Northern Illinois visits Ohio Stadium.
