Boilermakers lose assistant coach to Toledo

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) Purdue assistant coach Jon Heacock is taking the defensive coordinator's job at Toledo.

Coach Darrell Hazell made the announcement Saturday in a short statement released by the athletic department.

Heacock coached the Boilermakers' defensive backs last season during Hazell's first season in West Lafayette. The Rockets are also giving Heacock the title of assistant head coach.

Hazell thanked Heacock for his contributions to the program and said a search for Heacock's replacement will begin immediately.
