LORMAN, Miss. (AP) Solomon Muhammad returned a blocked punt 59 yards for a go-ahead score in the third quarter and four different Alcorn State players rushed for a touchdown in its 35-16 victory over Jackson State on Saturday.

A safety off a blocked punt by Cortez Mitchell late in the second quarter put the Tigers ahead 16-14 at halftime.

The Braves returned the favor late in the third quarter when Muhammad scooped up the ball after a LaDarrien Davis block and raced to the end zone.

Alcorn State (5-5, 5-4), which won the SWAC East Division title for the third-straight year, plays Grambling State for the league title in Houston on Dec. 3. Grambling won the first meeting 43-18 in September.

Jackson State (3-8, 3-6) led 14-7 after Jarin Morikawa threw TD passes to DeSean McKenzie and Shaquille Ward in the first quarter but Noah Johnson and Tavares Johnson Jr. ran for touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Braves pulled away.
