Blackmon pick-six sparks Kennesaw State past Duquesne, 36-28

PITTSBURGH (AP) Dante Blackmon picked off a Dillon Buechel pass and returned it 57 yards for a second-quarter touchdown to spark Kennesaw State to a 36-28 win over Duquesne as the Owls won their road opener Saturday.

Freshman Daniel David threw for a pair of second-half touchdowns to Justin Sumpter, including a 67-yard strike early in the third quarter.

Duquesne (2-2) took the lead in the first quarter when Gary Wooten forced a Micah Reed fumble that Carter Henderson returned 16 yards for a touchdown and a 7-6 lead.

Buechel was 21 of 37 with two touchdowns for Duquesne, but he also threw four interceptions. A.H. Hines carried 25 times for 91 yards.

David was 7 of 10 for 172 yards for the Owls (2-1) and Chandler Burks was 7 of 14 with an interception. Combined the pair threw for 312 yards. Sumpter finished with seven catches for 165 yards.
