STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) Stacey Bedell rushed for 100 yards and scored a career-best four touchdowns as Stony Brook rebounded to upset previously unbeaten Richmond in the conference opener for both teams Saturday.

Richmond (2-1, 0-1 Colonial Athletic) came in as the second-ranked team in FCS polls and jumped ahead 7-0 on a Kyle Lauletta touchdown pass. But Bedell quickly put the Seawolves (2-1, 1-0) on top with a pair of TD runs and a 14-7 lead by the end of the opening quarter. His second score covered 49 yards.

The Seawolves picked off Lauletta three times and held Richmond to 3-of-9 on third-down conversion attempts despite Lauletta's 411 yards passing.

Sherman Alston Jr. opened the second half with a 96-yard kickoff return for a 28-14 Stony Brook lead.
