Ballot stuffer tampers with contest

The College Football Playoff's online fan voting has been manipulated by a cyber-ballot stuffer.

BCS officials say the contractor that runs the logo contest informed them that an IP address in Austin, Texas, cast 50,251 for one of the four logos.

The new playoff system was named College Football Playoff by the conference commissioners on Tuesday and the website www.collegefootballplayoff.com was launched. Fans were given the chance to decide what the new logo will be. The one that receives the most votes will be used for the postseason format that starts in 2014.

Officials say the extra votes for logo No. 4, a star, created by a compass with a football at its center, will be eliminated. The winner of the contest will be revealed Monday.
