Ball State rallies late to beat Kent State 27-24
Keith Wenning threw a game-winning touchdown to Willie Snead late in the fourth quarter to help Ball State prevail over Kent State 27-24 in a Mid-American Conference matchup Saturday.
Trailing 24-20, the Cardinals (6-1, 3-0 MAC) drove down the field twice toward the end of the game. After failing to convert a fourth-and-six on the previous drive, the Cardinals faced another fourth down deep in the redzone, but converted it as Wenning found Snead again for a 7-yard go-ahead score with 1:29 remaining.
The Golden Flashes (2-5, 1-3) drove to midfield, but were stopped on a fourth-and-15.
Wenning went 23-of-46 for 305 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Snead finished with 152 yards receiving on 10 catches.
Kent State's Colin Reardon had 166 yards passing and two touchdowns, but left the game with an apparent left ankle injury. He was relieved by David Fisher for the final drive.
