AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn coach Gus Malzahn says defensive back Robenson Therezie "is working through some eligibility issues."

Malzahn said Saturday he hopes to know more about Therezie's status "in the near future." He declined to elaborate.

Therezie started every game last season during the Tigers' SEC championship run. He had 56 tackles and four interceptions, returning one 78 yards for a touchdown against Mississippi.

Justin Garrett had been the projected starter last season at the star safety spot but missed the first two games with a foot injury and moved to linebacker. A broken foot sidelined him for most of the season.

He has been practicing at the safety spot again in preseason camp.
