The lawyer for Jerry Sandusky says the former Penn State assistant coach is ''greatly dismayed'' by the way the school's board fired his longtime boss, Joe Paterno.
Attorney Joe Amendola said in a statement to The Associated Press on Saturday that Sandusky and his wife were upset by the ''knee-jerk reaction'' the school took against the 85-year-old Paterno.
Sandusky was charged on Nov. 5 with several counts of child sex abuse. Paterno was fired four days later as the Nittany Lions' football coach.
Amendola responded to a lengthy interview Paterno gave to The Washington Post that was posted Saturday on the newspaper's website.
