Arizona Football: Four-Star Running Back to Visit Wildcats
Despite rather a rough start to the Arizona Football season, perhaps brighter days are ahead as Rich Rodriguez and the Wildcats continue to recruit at a high level.
Let’s face it, 2016 is becoming much of a forgettable year for Arizona Football, but perhaps better days are ahead, as the 2017 recruiting class appears to be quite strong.
The Wildcats have already secured some real commitments, including Nathan Tilford, Braxton Burmeister, and Greg Johson. However, Rodriguez and staff see the obvious need for an upgrade in talent, and quickly.
Bad luck, evaluations, injuries, etc., whatever you want to call it, Murphy’s Law has hit the Arizona Football program this year and has hit the road hard.
As the season inches closer to a disappointing finish, we can draw a sigh of relief as this sort of season may soon be behind us.
Rodriguez and staff had mentioned in the off-season just how important recruiting was, and that Arizona’s staff was going to make more of an effort and emphasis on recruiting.
Well, fast forward a few months, and the Wildcats currently have the 16th overall rated recruiting class according to Scout.com. Granted, there is a long way to go, but you certainly have to like the effort the staff is giving to try and make Arizona Football a better, overall product.
This weekend, Arizona will have that chance to improve it even more, as four-star, New Mexico running, and current Michigan commit, O’Maury Samuels will visit Tucson officially. Along with Samuels, Braxton Burmeister and Cody Shear will also be on hand.
WildcatAuthority.com had confirmed via social media that Samuels would be taking his visit this weekend.

The visit makes sense, given Arizona’s current, rocky situation at running back this year. Depth will also obviously be a concern moving forward for 2017, but the Wildcats are trying to upgrade that position significantly, and recruiting Samuels is a no-brainer.
At 5-foot-10 188 pounds, Samuels possesses good quickness, power, and agility. Through seven games at Los Lunas High School, he has nearly 900 yards rushing and nine touchdowns on just 100 attempts. He’s also added another 16 yard receiving with a touchdown and has accounted for another touchdown via special teams.
Just by looking at his film, Samuels is definitely a gamer, and would have a nice impact for Arizona should he decide to open his recruitment and commit to Rich Rodriguez and the Wildcats.
At Zona Zealots, we are excited to see Rodriguez and staff not shy away in recruitments like this, and are truly making an effort to improve Arizona Football. Bear Down, O’Maury and good luck with the rest of your season.
