Arizona All-American Wright running, expects to play in bowl game

All-American linebacker Scooby Wright, who has missed almost all of the 2015 season for Arizona, told FOX Sports Saturday that he started running again about a week ago and that he expects to play in the Wildcats' bowl game.

The 6-foot-1, 245-pound junior has been dealing with a sprained right foot. Wright, who last season won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Rotary Lombardi Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award, all given annually to the nation's top defender, said he's still regaining strength in his foot in terms of his lateral quickness.

"It's feeling a lot better," Wright said before the Wildcats loss to Arizona State. In 'Zona's opener, Wright injured his meniscus that required surgery that caused him to miss a few games before hurting his foot.

Wright admitted he'd been frustrated by being sidelined this fall (he's one of five middle linebackers who has been injured for Arizona this season), but told FOX Sports he got a real dose of perspective the week the Wildcats played at Stanford. "I went to visit a children's hospital and that really put things in perspective for me."
