Appalachian State quarterback Jamal Jackson threw four touchdown passes, ran for one more and totaled 398 all-purpose yards to lead the Mountaineers to a 35-23 win over Elon on Saturday.

Jackson was 20-of-29 passing for 304 yards with an interception, while rushing for 94 yards on 17 carries for the Mountaineers (4-2, 2-1 Southern Conference).

Appalachian State went back and forth on the scoreboard with the Phoenix (2-4, 0-3) all game, but earned separation when it counted most thanks to Jackson. His 25-yard TD pass to Andrew Peacock put the Mountaineers up 21-17 with 3:49 left in the third quarter, and they led the rest of the way.

Jackson hit Steven Miller for the pair's second TD connection of the game, this one a 23-yard score, to extend the Appalachian State lead to 11 points early in the fourth. The quarterback's 1-yard rush later in the frame sealed the scoring.
