AP sources: Tenn. talks with La. Tech's Dooley
Two people familiar with the discussions say Tennessee is talking with Louisiana Tech coach and athletic director Derek Dooley in its search for a new coach.
The two people spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because no deal has been reached.
The son of former Georgia coach Vince Dooley has gone 17-20 in three seasons at Louisiana Tech, where he is the only coach at the Division I level who also works as the athletic director.
The Volunteers are in a frantic search to fill the vacancy created when Lane Kiffin abruptly resigned Tuesday night, bolting to Southern California after 14 months.
AP Sports Writer Brett Martel in New Orleans contributed to this report.
